Our story

A local team built for Fraserburgh

Fraserburgh Electrician serves the Fraserburgh AB43 postcode and the 5-mile coastal radius around the harbour. We've operated as a local team since 2016, with combined 10+ years of NICEIC standard electrical work across the North East of Scotland.

Our work is concentrated on Fraserburgh's specific housing stock and commercial profile. Granite cottages on Mid Street and Saltoun Square. 1970s council semis in Broadsea. Harbour-front rentals in Sandhaven and Cairnbulg. Town centre commercial on Cross Street and Broad Street. Fish processing, chandleries, and fuel suppliers around the harbour. We see all of these every week.

The advantage of staying local is depth. We've inspected enough Fraserburgh granite cottages to know exactly which 1970s consumer unit configurations to expect. We've upgraded enough harbour-front installations to specify marine-grade kit by default. We've delivered enough holiday let compliance packs to know the Scottish short-term-let licensing rules cold.

The disadvantage of staying local is we'll say no to work outside AB43. Aberdeen-based teams cover Aberdeen better than we would. Peterhead has its own local electricians. We'd rather do AB43 well than the whole Aberdeenshire acceptably.

Meet the team

  • Eilidh

    Electrician

    6 years

Came up through the renewables wave, qualified into the EV charger and heat pump electrical scope at the moment the OZEV grant landed. Leads our EV, heat pump, solar PV, and battery storage installs. One of a handful of female qualified electricians in Aberdeenshire, which is rarer than it should be in 2026.

    Specialism

EV charger installs (Zappi, Andersen, Easee, Ohme), heat pump electrical scope, solar PV electrical hookup, battery storage integration, Type B RCD specification on inverter loads

    Qualifications

WhatsApp first-response, quote preparation and follow-through, scheduling around customer availability, compliance documentation handover, invoicing

    Qualifications

    • Operations and customer service background

Who signs your certificate

Every NICEIC certificate that leaves our office is signed by Grant personally as the qualifying supervisor. He physically inspects, tests, or supervises every job that gets certified. If you ever want to verify, his signatory status is checkable on the NICEIC public register.

What we believe

4 values that shape every job

  • NICEIC quality, no shortcuts

Every job certified to BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 2 by an NICEIC approved contractor. We don't fit non-compliant kit even if a customer asks for it. The certificate is the document that protects your home insurance, your tenancy compliance, and your resale value. We don't compromise on what we sign.

  • 📍

    Local first, AB43 only

We focus on Fraserburgh and the 5-mile coastal radius. Sandhaven, Rosehearty, Cairnbulg, Inverallochy, St Combs, Strichen. We don't stretch into Aberdeen or Peterhead because we'd be slower and less knowledgeable about the local stock. Specialising on AB43 means we know the granite cottages, the 1970s consumer units, the harbour-front salt-air challenges.

  • 💬

    WhatsApp first, paperwork second

We operate on WhatsApp because it's fast, lets you send photos, and gives you a written record of what we said. Phone backup for traditional callers. Email for documentation. We don't have a call centre, you reach the electrician on call directly. No script, no transfer.

  • 💰

    Fixed prices, no day-rate surprises

Quotes are fixed prices in writing within 24 hours of your enquiry. We absorb the risk of surprises during the install rather than hitting you with extras on the day. Granite cottage uplift, consumer unit upgrade, three-phase requirement, all factored into the quote up front. The price you agree is the price you pay.

Credentials we hold

Verifiable qualifications and accreditations

We don't claim what we can't back up. Below are the qualifications we hold, where they're verifiable, and why they matter for the work we do.

  • NICEIC Approved Contractor

    Registration verifiable on niceic.com/find-an-electrician

The standard for domestic electrical work in the UK. Required by virtually all home insurers and Scottish landlord registration.

  • SELECT Member

Scotland's electrical trade body, verifiable on select.org.uk

Scotland-specific recognition. Required by some Aberdeenshire Council tenders and most letting agents.

  • BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 2

Latest UK Wiring Regulations qualification (September 2022 standard)

Confirms competence on current regulations including SPD and AFDD requirements, EV charger Type B RCD specifics, modern consumer unit metal-clad rules.

  • £5,000,000 Public Liability Insurance

Annual renewal, full cover for every job

Required by all commercial customers, most landlords, and increasingly checked by domestic customers before booking.

  • JIB ECS Gold Card (commercial site work)

    Construction site competency card

Required for working on commercial construction sites, harbour business installations, and CDM-compliant projects.

  • OZEV Authorised Installer

    For EV charger grant-eligible installs

Required to deliver the £350 OZEV Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant on EV charger installations.

Customer types

Who we typically work with in AB43

Across the last few years we've concentrated on five customer profiles in the Fraserburgh area. The consistent thread: jobs that need local knowledge of the stock, fast response, and honest pricing without surprise extras.

Multimeter testing during an EICR visit at a Fraserburgh property
  • Granite cottage homeowners

Fraserburgh has more pre-1900 granite cottages than the Aberdeenshire average. Mid Street, Saltoun Square, Cross Street, harbour-front. We know the construction, the 1970s wiring layered under decades of partial upgrades, and the salt-air corrosion considerations.

  • Holiday let and short-term-let owners

Fraserburgh harbour-front and Sandhaven holiday lets need annual EICR + smoke alarm + PAT compliance under the October 2023 Scottish licensing rules. Many owners are based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or further south, we work as the on-site team with key safe access and remote owner WhatsApp updates.

  • Landlord portfolios

From single-property landlords to letting agents managing 12+ rental units across AB43. Rolling EICR cycles, change-of-tenancy fast turnaround, bundled compliance packs, single point of contact for the whole portfolio.

  • Commercial premises and harbour businesses

Fish processing, chandleries, boat repair workshops, fuel suppliers, town centre shops, restaurants, hotels, and harbour-front commercial. Fixed wire testing, fire alarm BS 5839-1, emergency lighting BS 5266, PAT, all bundled into annual service contracts.

  • EV-curious and renewable energy households

Solar PV electrical scope, EV charger installs (Zappi, Ohme, Andersen, Easee), heat pump electrical, battery storage hookups. The combined renewable install (solar + EV + battery) is increasingly common in Fraserburgh as energy bills push customers off fossil fuels.

Honest scope

What we don't do, and why we say so

Knowing your boundaries matters. We refer customers to other trades where they'll get better service, and we don't pretend we cover ground we don't. Six things we specifically don't do.

  • Gas work

Gas Safe registered engineer required. We coordinate with local Gas Safe engineers when a job needs both, but we don't touch gas pipework or gas appliances ourselves.

  • Plumbing

Different trade, different qualification. We do the electrical scope of any plumbing project (electric shower wiring, pump electrical, immersion heater) but the wet trades are handled by a plumber.

  • Heating engineering / boiler installs

Heat pump and boiler installs require MCS-certified heating engineers (different qualification). We do the electrical scope (power supply, hydrobox wiring, smart controls) and partner with MCS engineers on full installs.

  • Refrigerant pipework

F-Gas regulated, requires F-Gas qualification. The MCS heating engineer handles refrigerant lines on heat pump installs. We don't.

  • Aberdeen, Peterhead, Ellon, or other AB postcodes

We focus on AB43. For genuine emergencies we'll travel further but our standard service area is the 5-mile radius around Fraserburgh harbour.

  • DIY-grade installs that sacrifice safety

We don't fit non-IP-rated outdoor sockets, plastic consumer units in new domestic installs, fittings that fail bathroom zoning rules, or shortcuts that wouldn't pass an inspection. Even if a customer asks for it.
