How we quote
From WhatsApp message to NICEIC certificate, four steps
- 1
WhatsApp or call
Send a photo of the consumer unit, the room you want a socket in, the appliance you want connected. We confirm receipt inside business hours and tell you what we need to quote.
- 2
Fixed quote in writing
Free, no obligation, returned in writing within 24 hours. The quote covers labour, materials, certification, and disposal. No day-rate creep, no surprises during the install.
- 3
Book a slot
Approve the quote and we book a slot that suits you. No deposit on small jobs (under £500). Larger work takes a 25% deposit on confirmation, balance on completion.
- 4
Job done, paid on completion
Tidy work, full clean-up, NICEIC certificate emailed the same day. You only pay the balance when the job is done and the certificate is in your inbox.
Common questions
Pricing FAQs
Why do you publish prices when other Fraserburgh electricians don't?
Because price opacity is the biggest reason customers don't call. People assume that if a price isn't on the site, it's because the trade wants to read your postcode and judge what you'll pay. We'd rather you see honest starting prices upfront, decide if it's in your budget, and then call us with a clear context. The downside for us is that occasionally a customer reads £150 EICR and expects £150 to cover a 6-bedroom granite cottage with remedial work, which it doesn't. That's a conversation worth having early. Better than a quote shock at the end.
Are these prices fixed, or do they go up on the day?
Fixed. The quote we email you within 24 hours is the price you pay on completion. We absorb the risk of surprises (granite wall takes longer to drill, the consumer unit needs an isolator upgrade, the supply earth electrode is below 200 ohm and needs a matrix). If we missed something at quote stage that materially changes the job, we'd come back to you with the new price before doing the work, but that's rare because the quote pack we send asks the right questions upfront.
What's included in the price, and what's extra?
Included: labour, materials, NICEIC certification, basic clean-up, disposal of old kit. Not included: structural work (cutting through joists, plastering after chase work, replacing decorative covers), parking fees in town centre commercial work, and any third-party services (SSEN supply uplift, Gas Safe isolation, MCS heat pump engineer). We list these on the quote so you see them itemised.
Is there a minimum charge for small jobs?
Yes, our minimum call-out covers 1 hour at the standard rate (£85). For very small jobs (replacing a single light fitting, changing a switch) the minimum applies. We're upfront about this, no "oh, that'll be £150 for a 5 minute job" surprises. If you have several small jobs, bundle them and the per-job cost drops.
What about emergency or out-of-hours pricing?
Out-of-hours (evenings 5pm onwards, weekends, public holidays) standard rate is 1.5x. Emergency response (genuine Class 1, fire risk, no-power, vulnerable resident) is 2x with a £120 to £150 callout fee on top. We never apply emergency pricing to a job that isn't a genuine emergency, even if the customer asks for fast attendance. Standard out-of-hours covers most non-emergency evening calls.
Do you do free quotes outside Fraserburgh?
We do free written quotes for any AB43 address. For genuinely rural Strichen-area properties 2+ miles outside the village we add a £25 to £40 travel uplift to the callout, declared at quote stage. For addresses outside AB43 (Peterhead, Aberdeen, Ellon) we typically refer to other local electricians rather than quote, since they'll be quicker and more competitive than us on their home patch.
